Policies regarding Resident Trips off Premises
As per NYS DOH guidance from 11/24/2020 and 11/25/2020, Crestview residents are strongly discouraged from leaving the premises for off-site trips and visits until after the holidays (and further notice). These recommendations are based on NYS DOH and CDC guidelines.
To discourage resident leave, NYS DOH instituted stringent guidelines about steps that residents must take prior to returning to the building. Crestview notes that some of these guidelines may not be achievable - meaning that residents who leave cannot be guaranteed a timely return. Families interested in discussing this should review the guidelines below.
For the welfare and safety of other residents and staff, any resident who leaves for home, family visitation or for a social outing must (from DOH guidance):
Quarantine or minimize contact to the extent safely possible prior to their return to the facility.
Be quarantined upon return to the facility for 14 days.
Test negative immediately (within 24 hours) prior to return to the facility.
Be tested at least three times during the 14-day quarantine period (after return) at the facility, including on the first day (upon return) and the last day that a resident must be quarantined.
We at Crestview recognize that the requirements for return are extremely hard to achieve. In fact, it is possible that a resident may not be physically able to complete all requirements, because rapid testing is not always available, and point 3 requires test results to be received within 24 hours of the test. Those families or residents who still elect to leave for home, family visitation or a social outing must recognize that they may need to seek alternative arrangements after the visit. We will assist in coordination with the local health department. However, options may be limited.
